Do you Date Your Mate?

Do you want to keep your marriage healthy and happy? 
Going on dates is a great way to nurture your relationship.


What would happen if you only made withdrawls from your checking account?  For awhile everything would be just fine, but eventually your balance would hit zero.  The same is true for your relationship account.  Because neither of you are perfect it is impossible not to make withdrawls from your relationship bank account.  As long as the sum of your deposits are greater than your withdrawls then you will never have to experience relationship bankruptcy.

Going on dates with your spouse can be a lot of fun and is a great way to make deposits into your relationship account.

Here are some great ideas:

1.  Go on an appreciation dinner date.  Before you each take a bit of food, tell your spouse something you appreciate about him or her or something you appreciate that he or she has done recently or in the past.

3.  Help serve dinner together at a homeless shelter.

4.  Ask your parents or grandparents what thier favorite date was and if possible recreate it.

5.  Bake your favorite desserts together.

6.  Go to your local children's hospital and read books to the kids.

7.  Have a candle light dinner together.

8.  Watch a movie at the movie theatre.

9.  Watch the sunset together.

10.  Pretend you are a fashion photographer and do a photo shoot of your spouse at a scenic location.

11.  Go to a baseball or football game together.

12.   Plant some flowers for an older neightbor in their yard.

13.  Test drive your dream car together.

14.  Go bowling together.

15.  Go to a water park.

16.  Go on a memory dinner date.  Both of you should take 10 minutes before the date starts to write down a keyword that reminds you of fun memories you have had together.  Cut out each keyword and place it in your pocket or purse.  During dinner take turns pulling out a keyword and sharing that memory.

17.  Rent a 4-wheeler for the day.

18.   Visit art galleries.

19.  Race go carts together.

20.  Visit a used bookstore and see who can find the oldest book.  Then buy a book about your spouse's favorite hobby.

21.  Visit a romantic spot together.

22.  Go to a spa together.

23.  Spend the night at a bed and breakfast.

24.  Go to a chocolate store and buy samples.

25.  Plan a picnic together.

26.  Go to a thrift store and buy the most outrageous outfits you can find and go on a date in them.

27.  Buy a tent or rent an RV and go camping.

28.  Make plans for your 50th wedding anniversary.  Even if it's 49 years away.

29.  Take a CPR class together.

30.   Play 9 or 18 holes of golf.

31.  Take horseback riding lessons together.

32.  Make homemade ice-cream together.

33.  Build a webpage (Facebook) together.

34.  Make a video documentary of your home.

35.  Teach your spouse about your favorite hobby.

36.  Watch old home movies together.

37.  Do a service project date for each other.

39.  Give each other foot massages.

40.  Make an evacuation plan, practice it and put together a 72 hour kit.  Visit the Red Cross website for more details.

41.  Make a romantic post-it note treasure hunt.

42.  Plan your dream vacation together.

43.  Create a daily exercise plan and do it together.

44.  Wash the car(s) together.

45.  Pick a room in your house and describe your favorite memories that have occured in that room.

46.  Go on a virtual tour of museums online. 

47.  Send her flowers with instructions on where to meet you for your date.

48.  Go on a Cinderella date.  Get a new dress, rent a tuxedo and go to a fancy restaurant.

49.  Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy shelving to help you organize your closet.

50.  Brainstorm creative dates you could go on.
