CINCO de MAYO

Yuba-Sutter Healthy Marriage Project (YSHMP) was priviledged to be a part of this years Cinco de Mayo at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds.  The response was incredible.  Many were surprised to know there are resources available to help marriages.

Festival Cinco de Mayo in Yuba City included cultural exhibits and community information booths such as the Yuba County and Sutter County health departments and the Alliance for Hispanic Advancement, plus activities for children.  Music and dancing covered the grounds of Yuba City's Cinco de Mayo celebration — a ray of good cheer after a weekend of national protests.  Many spectators come for the amazing food.

A light breeze and sunny skies graced the fourth-annual festival at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds, which organizers said attracted some 8,800 guests from across the North State.

~ BRIDAL SPLENDOR ~
January 30, 2011

Every couple marrying today is at risk.  After they toss the bouquets and return the tuxedos, couples often assume they're headed for marital bliss. But a study of those who recently tied the knot revealed that 49 percent reported having serious marital problems.  Half were already having doubts about whether their marriages would last.

The truth is, most engaged couple prepare more for their wedding than they do for their marriage.  The $20-billion-a-year wedding industry can testify to that fact.  According to the experts, the average two hundred guest wedding today costs $15,000 to $30,000.  More than one million copies of bridal magazines are sold each month, focusing mainly on wedding ceremonies, honeymoons, and home furnishings--but not on marriage itself.

Each year, on the last Sunday of January, the "Annual Bridal Splendor" is held at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds.  It is the largest and finest bridal show in Yuba and Sutter Counties, and sure to impress. There are numerous exhibitors who will be on hand to make the wedding day the perfect experience for the bride and their family. The show includes fashion shows, live music just right for your ceremony, and lots of prizes and contests to enter.  Exhibitors come from all over to make the brides wedding day the most memorable.

Yuba-Sutter Healthy Marriage Project (YSHMP) was priviledged to be a part of this years Bridal Faire.  220 brides attended and the response was incredible.  Many were glad and some surprised that there are resources available to help marriages, including marriages before they begin.
