GOALS
Our goals are to increase:
Marital success
Marital health
Couples receiving pre-marital education and Marriage Enrichment.
Father involvement
While decreasing:
Divorce rates
The number of children growing up in father-absent homes.
Out of wedlock pregnancies.
Domestic Violence.
And to identify and remove obstacles to a healthy marriage.
Research demonstrates overwhelming evidence that healthy, lasting marriages are, on the average, highly beneficial to children, to spouses and to society at large.
Marriage gives children the best access to both parents—fathers and mothers.
NETWORKING
The Yuba-Sutter Healthy Marriage Project will assist churches and community organizations within the Yuba-Sutter counties who want to add any of the above listed programs to their repertoire, and to select and implement other relevant program(s) of their choice. The key assistance areas include: A) Finding and evaluating the relevant programs, B) Coordinating the training of the people within the church and/or community organizations who will be leading the programs, and C) Promotion of the programs.
The idea is that all of the above programs will be available somewhere in our community, and the information about all of the courses/programs will be available on this website managed by the Yuba-Sutter Healthy Marriage Project at www.yubasuttermarriage.com. Pastors, therapists, and community leaders can refer their couples to the programs which best meet their couple and family needs.
